Pet license 🪪
Hello dear friends. Thank you for being once again in my adventures and advice. I tell you that when we arrived in Canada we began to hear the following words "Pet license" and yes it is true, this is a measure that belongs to the draft bill for the protection and rights of animals, promoted last October by the government current.
This License for dogs and cats seeks to strengthen the fight against pet abandonment in Canada. The DNI will help the authorities to find the owners of the animal in case of abandonment, and will be linked to the microchip that the pets carry. The pet's identity document will have basic information such as date of birth, vaccinations, among other information of interest.
If you live in Montreal and have a cat or dog, you need to obtain a license and renew it annually. When you receive your license, you will get a tag. The tag must be worn at all times by your cat (unless microchipped) or dog. If you lose or damage it, you can get a replacement tag. The tag and microchip are identification methods that allow you to be contacted if your lost pet is found.
Spaying/neutering and microchipping are mandatory for dogs and cats older than 6 months. Rabbits also need to be sterilized.
If you want to know more information I leave you the official page of the Government.☝🏼
